In 2023, the Tennessee State University Aristocrat of Bands (AOB) made history by becoming the first collegiate marching band to win not just one, but two GRAMMY Awards.

This groundbreaking achievement came in recognition of their debut album, The Urban Hymnal, which earned top honors in the categories of Best Roots Gospel Album and Best Spoken Word Poetry Album.

AOB’s innovative blend of gospel, spoken word, and HBCU band traditions captivated audiences worldwide, solidifying their place as pioneers in both music and culture.

Known for their precision and high-energy performances, the AOB has earned a reputation as one of the premier collegiate bands in the country.

Renowned for their versatility, the AOB performs a wide range of music, including jazz, classical, contemporary, and popular genres. The band’s signature sound is defined by crisp articulation, expressive dynamics, balanced harmonies, and impressive technical skill.
