In 2023, the Tennessee State University Aristocrat of Bands (AOB) made history by becoming the first collegiate marching band to win not just one, but two GRAMMY Awards.

This groundbreaking achievement came in recognition of their debut album, The Urban Hymnal, which earned top honors in the categories of Best Roots Gospel Album and Best Spoken Word Poetry Album.

AOB’s innovative blend of gospel, spoken word, and HBCU band traditions captivated audiences worldwide, solidifying their place as pioneers in both music and culture.

This victory marks a defining moment in the band's rich legacy of excellence.
